In this article I am going to tell you which laptops have the best battery life when gaming.
I think it’s fair to call a laptop with a graphics card a gaming laptop, since that’s all it takes to play the most common games. The integrated graphics are usually not good enough.

The laptops on the list are not the most powerful gaming laptops out there, but that’s what make them have great battery life.
You’re not going to get excellent performance and excellent battery life, that simply isn’t possible, yet.

Lenovo Legion 5
The Lenovo Legion 5 is a great lightweight laptop for gamers that also need to be able to work on the move.
It is a powerful laptop that will handle both gaming and productivity apps with ease, and do it for a long time.
So what makes it a gaming laptop? Well, the 144 Hz 15.6″ 1080p monitor is one thing. It’s a gorgeous IPS display.
It’s so much more enjoyable to game on a screen with a high refresh rate, and this is a great entry-level model that will give you a taste of that.
But let’s not forget about the graphics card, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti, which can handle all of the latest games.
It won’t have any problems running games like League of Legends or Counter Strike Global Offensive, and in those games you’re going to see over 100 fps which will take advantage of the 144 Hz screen.
Note that the graphics card is the Ti version, which means it’s a bit better than the standard GTX 1660.
The Legion 5 comes in different configurations, so you can choose to upgrade from the most basic 16GB 512GB config.
16 GB of ram is enough for most people that don’t work with graphics design or video editing, but if you’re a big gamer you might want to upgrade the hard drive to at least a 1 TB SSD.
Overall, the Legion 5 offers a lot of power for the buck, and I really like the simple yet elegant design. It won’t get a lot of attention in a classroom, which is what some people are looking for.
MSI Creator 15 Professional
MSI knows how to make great gaming laptops with good cooling, and the Creator 15 Professional is a very powerful laptop I don’t think you’re going to be disappointed with.
It doesn’t have the 144 Hz display that the Legion above does, instead it has a 4K OLED screen. If you don’t know OLED, it’s currently the most color accurate display technology.
You might’ve heard of true blacks, that’s what OLED brings to the table.
OLED is also great when it comes to battery life, since it’s capable of turning off the pixels that are black and not in use.
The MSI Creator 15 is a step-up from the Legion 5 above in almost every way except for the refresh rate of the display.
The 11th Gen Intel Core i7 is an 8 core CPU that can reach 4.6 GHz when boosted. An i7 is better than i5 for creators that work with CPU heavy applications.
I applaud MSI for putting an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 in this laptop. If you’re playing a game that supports RTX, I suggest enabling it. On an OLED screen it’s going to be a glorious experience.
You’re not going to be able to play games at 4K with RTX on, but at 1080P it’s still going to look amazing on a 15.6″ screen.
If you want to, you can upgrade to a RTX 3080, which also doubles the hard drive size to 1TB.
ASUS VivoBook Pro 16X OLED
While I don’t love the look of the VivoBook Pro 16X, I do like ASUS because in my experience they make very reliable products. I have been using ASUS parts in my desktop computers for years, and they’re still going strong. YMMV.
The VivoBook Pro 16X is another laptop for both creators and gamers.
It’s not as powerful as the MSI Creator 15, but it does come with a larger hard drive, a slightly larger screen at 16″, and a 16:10 aspect ratio.
Due to the aspect ratio, the 16″ OLED display outputs a 3840 x 2400 resolution, and the extra space can be very useful for photo and video editing.
The AMD Ryzen 7 5800H is a very powerful processor for a laptop, and the RTX 3050 Ti is good enough to play the most popular games.
You’re not going to play the latest games at the highest graphics, but you’re going to be able to game on this longer than the other two above, since the graphics card uses less power.
It includes a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD and that means you’ll see some of the fastest read and writing speeds possible.
The 16GB ram should be enough for most people, unless you do a lot of photo and video editing where a lot of data is stored int he memory.
ASUS ZenBook Duo UX481
If you’re somebody that is used to working with two monitors, or are willing to try, the ZenBook Duo UX481 is the laptop for you.
It’s a pretty incredible laptop, with its two screens that has the potential of increasing your productivity a lot.
The larger screen of the two is a 14 inch full HD glossy display.
The smaller one, located above the keyboard, is a 12.6″ matte touchscreen, that is configured as a second monitor, meaning that you can put anything you want on it.
Split it in two, three, or let it be your Discord or Spotify screen. Use it in whatever way you see a need for.
So it has two screens, is there anything else that’s cool about it? Well, it does come with a 1TB SSD and 16GB ram, the i7/10510U processor is also relatively powerful.
The Nvidia GeForce MX250 graphics card is not going to impress you and run games on high graphics, but it’s still capable of playing the most popular games, although on low graphics.
I would say that this laptop is best suited for people that do a lot of productivity work but also wants to play games every now and then.
It’s on my list because it has two screens and offers incredible battery life, and it would be a great laptop for me that does 80% work and 20% gaming.
Dell Alienware m15 R5
If you want the best, this is it.
The Alienware M15 R5 made by Dell is an incredibly powerful gaming laptop that offers excellent battery life, even when gaming with it’s RTX 3070 graphics card.
So what do you get for your money? Well, a 1TB SSD, 32 GB ram, a RTX 3070 graphics card with 8GB video memory.
The CU is an AMD Ryzen 9 5900 and one of the most powerful laptop CPUs on the market right now.
The 1080p screen is of course a high refresh rate one, with 165 Hz.
Alienware computers have gotten a lot of crap over the years, but Dell has started releasing laptops like this that are extremely powerful and attractive to a lot of different buyers, without being overpriced.
The RTX 3070 will run all of the latest games on mid-high settings depending on game.
And as I mentioned earlier, when you have the possibility to enable RTX, do it for a new gaming experience.
Since the 15.6″ display is a full-HD display (1080p), which in my opinion is the perfect resolution a display this size, the graphics card is going to be able to output a beautiful picture at a high refresh rate, instead of pushing more pixels than you can even see at a low refresh rate.

Alright, that’s the five gaming laptops I recommend if battery life is the most important.
Remember, it’s not a list of the most powerful gaming laptops, but I hope you feel like you have a couple of options to choose from.
All five of these laptops are going to last for hours doing either productivity work or gaming.
As always, you’re not going to be able to game for 10 hours on any of them even if it’s advertised as having 10 hours of battery life, but these models are going to let you game for longer than some of the rest.
The most important thing when choosing a gaming laptop with great battery life is to consider what makes a laptop have great battery life.
There is more to it than just having a large battery, since it’s the components inside that decide how fast that battery is going to be drained.
Is it necessary o have a 4K display on a 15-16″ monitor? Is RTX worth it, at all? Is refresh rate the most important thing when it comes to having a good gaming experience?
Your answers might be different than mine, but as somebody that has been a gamer for 20 years I value a high refresh rate over pretty graphics.
Some of my best gaming memories comes from games that would be considered crappy looking if they were released today, but they’re not the best memories because of how I remember the games looking but how they made me feel and how much I enjoyed them.
This ended up being a long conclusion, but here is what I want you to take away from this article:
To be able to game for a long time on a gaming laptop, lower the graphics, lower the brightness a bit, make sure the computer is ventilated well and can cool itself down, and enjoy the game.
