Which iPad Will Last The Longest In A Battery Test?
The Apple iPad is the best-selling tablet on the market, and no other company is even close to beating it.
This year, Apple released a couple of new iPads. Not only did they update the popular iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 inch with the M1 Chip, but they also released a new iPad 9th Gen and an iPad Mini.

Now Apple has a very strong lineup of tablets, and the current budget model is the iPad 9th Gen with the older A13 Bionic Chip and the only iPad currently shipping with a lightning port.

While Apple claims that all iPads have the same battery life, I wanted to test it out myself to see if Apple is exaggerating. Therefore, I got one of each and started doing my tests.
In my tests, I put the iPads to work and did a little bit of everything. That includes surfing the web, watching Netflix, gaming, video editing, drawing with an No products found., listened to Spotify both via speakers and Bluetooth, and recorded video with the built-in cameras.
Without further ado, let’s get to the specifications and the results.

Conclusion & Thoughts
As we can see, even though Apple advertises that all of the iPads share the same battery life, there is a clear winner – the Apple iPad 9th Gen
I think the reason the 9th gen iPad wins is due to the lower resolution and the A13 Bionic. It’s not quite as powerful as the A15 Bionic and definitely not as capable as the M1 Chip.
The A15 and M1 Chips are extremely powerful and energy efficient, but a clocked down A13 will still use less power overall.
As I already mentioned, the 9th gen iPad is the only one with a lightning connector, which might bother some.
The best iPad overall if we look past the battery life is the iPad Pro 11″ and 12.9″. Even though they’re pretty heavy.
I prefer the iPad Pro models myself due to the Promotion technology which means that the display has an adaptive refresh rate capable of going all the way up to 120hz. I really like how smooth iPad OS feels at 120hz.
When Is Apple Releasing New iPads?
Apple usually releases its new iPads in the spring, usually March, so I expect an Apple Event to occur in March 2022.
How Can I Increase The Battery Life Of My iPad?
The easiest thing you can do is turn down the screen brightness. If you have an LTE model but are connected to WiFi, you can also turn on airplane mode and only connect WiFi.
If you’re playing a game or watching downloaded content that doesn’t require internet, you should turn off WiFi. Bluetooth can also be turned off to increase battery life.
